Hi, I'm Mikhaila

It all started with “She will eat when she is hungry.”

The start of my career is nothing special. I graduated in 2017 and had my first big-girl job as an official Registered Dietitian. I felt pretty accomplished!

Then, in 2019 I had a baby, and things changed. I felt prepared (you know, as much as you can be) after going to the classes offered by my local hospital. I knew how to install a car seat, I knew how often to breastfeed or offer a bottle, I knew when to start solids, etc. I also was lucky to have a background in nutrition.

Fast forward to starting solids and it was crickets! You know what I mean. You hear the phrases “they’ll eat when they’re hungry,” “Just feed them the rainbow,” and have no idea what to feed your child, how to do it, or why you have to offer variety. But as long as they are staying on their growth curve, everything is fine.

What if it’s not fine? What then?

My pediatrician office does not have a Registered Dietitian on staff to help with feeding questions or issues, and the vision for my career path started to shift. I became less fulfilled only helping people visiting the hospital and started wondering how I could make a larger impact.

I started to take clients 1:1, specifically other mamas, to help them reach their postpartum goals, teach them how to feed their family and why it’s important, and help reduce picky eating. All topics that are not addressed nearly enough as we are raising our kiddos.

You know what happened? I fell in love with it! I love meeting new people and helping them reach their goals, providing accountability and support, and my favorite part is celebrating with clients when their picky eater finally tries a green bean. Although it might feel hard right now, you are the best mama for your kiddo, and it’s okay to need some extra support, accountability, and encouragement along they way.
